What will the ultimate smart hotel experience of the future look like? Marriott International, Samsung and Legrand have teamed up to provide a sneak peek into that future, now.
Located at Marriott’s corporate headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina, the IoT Guestroom Lab is the hospitality industry’s first Internet of Things (IoT) hotel room. Powered by the Samsung ARTIK Smart IoT platform, featuring Samsung smart appliances and smart power and lighting products from Legrand, this project explores what the smart hotel experience should look and feel like, for guests and hoteliers alike.
The IoT Guestroom Lab incorporates multiple responsive IoT systems, devices and applications that communicate with one another to serve guests and optimize hotel operations. Customizable, intelligent experiences mean that guests on vacation can enjoy the ultimate relaxation environment, while business travelers can achieve heightened productivity based on their personal preferences.
Underlying the smart hotel room’s capabilities are end-to-end IoT services powered by the Samsung ARTIK platform and the Samsung SmartThings Cloud. From intuitive lighting to voice-activated room controls, the ARTIK platform is enabling a future where hotel guests enjoy an elevated guest experience in rooms designed and constructed with greater efficiency.
And the best news? You won’t have to wait long for the IoT hotel of the future. Elements of the technology are expected to be incorporated into hotel rooms within the next five years.
