It’s that time of year again! VMware’s annual global conference, VMworld, will take place in Las Vegas, August 27th-31st. The Samsung ARTIK team will be there with a new demo in a metropolitan setting to demonstrate our open, enterprise-grade IoT platform, offering cloud, modules, software, and end-to-end security.
In this demo, we will present a model of London’s Tower bridge, complete with lights, traffic sensors, earthquake detection, and more. All data is collected from edge systems based on the Samsung ARTIK 053 Smart IoT Module and streams to a gateway device based on an ARTIK 530. Sensor data is processed locally at the bridge for immediate action, leveraging the ARTIK 530’s local processing power. Relevant points stream to the cloud for big data analytics and advanced rules.
To showcase the partnership between Samsung and VMware, our demo is integrated with VMware’s Pulse IoT Center, an end-to-end IoT infrastructure management solution. Pulse IoT Center consists of a server-side management console for backend monitoring, and a client-side agent, as well as an open-source client SDK (Liota). In our demo, the Pulse agent is running on the ARTIK 530 gateway device. Customized Liota functions help to orchestrate telemetry from the gateway, edge systems and connected “things”.
We will also be demonstrating a futuristic user experience merging IoT and webVR! You can enjoy an immersive view of an IoT-enabled Tower Bridge 3D model.
