The ARTIK team recently visited Barcelona to participate in Mobile World Congress along with some of our newest partners. In case you missed the event, we wanted to share some of our memories of this inspiring summit.
Ubuntu by Canonical had a strong presence in support of Snappy Ubuntu Core‘s integration with ARTIK.
ARTIK partner Canonical showed its cutting-edge Home Gateway for smart homes of the future. As part of the Home Gateway, our very own technical support leads Dan Gross (not pictured) and Wei Xiao presented an ARTIK-powered smart home demo running on Snappy UbuntuCore and using Sensory voice-activation technology.
ARTIK was also found in the Trustonic booth which emphasized reliable security for IoT devices.
ARTIK made its debut in the Trustonic booth after the announcement of TEE (Trusted Execution Environment) support. Amid all the week’s activities, ARTIK kept its icy cool.
Getting hands-on with developers
A highlight for the ARTIK team was the first ARTIK Developer Workshop, which was a big success! It was our pleasure to welcome a select group of developers to work with ARTIK hands-on, and enjoy live technical demonstrations from the team. We kicked off the session by covering ARTIK board bring-up, network configuration, and common Linux commands.
Workshop participants get acquainted with ARTIK basics.
Our first lecture and hands-on demo was led by Wei Xiao, senior engineer on the ARTIK team. Wei showed the participants how to build smart trash cans using ARTIK, Temboo, Arduino, and Node-RED. With demo time included, it only took a little over an hour for everyone to build their own trash can that could collect and report sensor data using GPIO!
Dan Gross, Technical Support Director for ARTIK, speaks about key ARTIK features.
Getting hands-on with SAMI.
We wrapped up with a segment on integration with SAMI. By being connected to SAMI, the new smart trash cans instantly became part of a working IoT ecosystem.
For everyone who attended, we hope you enjoyed working with ARTIK as much as we do.
